First purchase of 2014! The pictures are a little bright. This is a beautiful 1.5" wide spinach green cuff w/tiny white rhinestones. I found it on ebay and was missing 4 rhinestones so I got a fairly good price. Just sifted thru my stash of vintage rhinestones and glued them in. Important to have those old rhinestones.

That's it! No more green for me. I am visualizing red and black bakelite treasures to be found in 2014....

Val, I love the bangle!!!! XOXOXO

Thank you Lee - I'll wear it to the swapmeet. Honestly no more green bakelite for me! Cuffs are usually cheaper because they don't fit everyone.

I love the design, it makes the stones look like they're constantly sparkling.
I'll keep an eye out for red and black.

Thank you Miss Aim! Some of the rhinestones are a little cloudy but overall it is probably my favorite green bakelite so far. Stay warm!

Thank you Nadia! I was a little worried when I bought it on ebay because the pictures were a bit fuzzy but I had a good feeling about it. I much rather find items in person. You inspire me to look for prystal....and yes a really good carved bracelet.

Val, you should show them! It has no use to keep bakelite for yourself. Especially those yummie green ones! ;-)

So true Newtimes! I'll post a few this weekend.

I'm dying over this....! I saw one similar on ebay recently, it was in the US (I'm UK) and I assumed it would go for more than I could afford taking into account the shipping costs too. It only sold for about £12! Agh!

Hi Vmode - was it the one that was a 1" wide green & beige mix? If so - yes it sold for $13.oo? I watched it and almost bought it but decided I already had a green. If it would have been ANY other color then I would have. This cuff is wider - 1.5" and I think w/shipping it was $27. I won't find that price again. Bakelite is expensive here! I am so in love with your collection. It isn't easy to find wide bracelets as cheap as the one above - so I don't have very many. But I enjoy and like you - I get them out and look at them from time to time. You inspire me to take a new photos of mine!

It probably was, I deleted it from my watch list in a huff of frustration. That's the good thing about getting all your pieces together and photographing them, you can see what you have enough of and need more of!
Bakelite identified as such is expensive over here too, not to mention incorrectly-labeled pieces that go for big bucks and are just modern plastic.. it seems to be every bangle on ebay is 'bakelite'.. But there are good finds to be found hiding away online, I've only bought a few pieces in the flesh!

Sorry you missed it. It was a bargain. I thought long and hard but in the end I figured I had enough green and I only resell certain colors to a friend of mine who is also a bakelite nut but unlike you and me - she won't hunt, she just buys from me.

I agree! There is a lot of fakelite out there! And some of it posted here on CW. I think I'll post some of my fakelite as bakelite and see what happens...Hee, hee! You'll catch the fakes. I'm very impressed that you have found online goodies. Only 20% of mine is online. However I will buy duplicates online. Just too many mistakes....I have some Lucite mistakes - but I'm not unhappy because the ones I have are pretty darn fabulous. Those are getting hard to find as well. So fun to chat w/you about this mutual obsession!

I meant 20% of my collection was bought online. Darn where's that edit button Hunter???

Wow! Great color, nice job on the rhinestones!

Hey my friend nutsabotas6 - you probably live in the right place to find bakelite and Lucite easier than I can. Keep checking your thrift stores!

Thank you pops52 - yes - it's important to keep those old rhinestones for repair jobs. This is a nice color of green - thank you.
