My Harrach cased art glass biscuit barrel/jar.. which I do! use..unfortunately!....and I say unfortunately because it is empty more often than it is full....:-/
It has a white exterior and a beautiful pink glass interior, around the barrel there are three large..just about! rim to rim applied amber, green and 'pink' leaves.
Silver plated handle, rim and lid....7 inches high (not including handle) .. I have left the lid off to show the beautiful pink glass inside.
I was looking through the Harrach book and there was one - just a different shape.... same cased coloured glass body and same applied leaf, even described as I have mine!...these have always wrongly been attributed to S & W's... in my HO.
It has been a while since I looked through the book and will sit tonight and have another look for it and post a photo of the page..the white has a hint of green/yellow in it which I can't capture in the photos and the barrel itself glows like crazy under a black light.

Remarkable piece! I am completely ignorant about art glass, as you know, so please forgive a question that is possibly very stupid: What is the name of this style or name of decors employed here? Hello, dear inky! As you know, I'm very seldom on CW these days, but I saw the new comment on your piece today and popped in for a look. As you know, I am grossly ignorant about art glass!!! However, I should like to comment on something that struck me about this piece the second time I viewed it. Namely, that the handle on the silverplated frame reminds me of Christopher Dresser's silverplated pieces that were a marriage of Aesthetic Movement and some sort of modern abstraction. Perhaps one might describe it as a fusion of Aesthetic Movement and 'Anglo-Japanese' style? I haven't an idiomatic term to describe this particular style. I have observed it in his silverplated tea services. I provide a link below to a desktop smoking set from English firm Hukin & Heath [circa 1880's], the style of which set the Seller asserts "shows design influences of Dr. Dresser", who worked for Hukin & Heath at the time. Anyway, the point I'm trying to make is not that Dresser designed the particular collar-handle unit that is on your piece, but that the handle looks very English to me. Now, American artists quickly adopted Dresser 'themes', though I can't offhand point to a single instance of this collar-handle unit being produced in U.S. and applied to a similar species of biscuit jar. Of course, I have NO knowledge of biscuit jars like this, so my hypothesis is the most insubstantial of vapors, and betrays my grotesque foolishness. But anyway, my point is not that this is perhaps American - no, I mean to ask, do you think that some persons might have opined a S & W origin based on the collar-handle unit? And that occasions a question: If it is English silverplate circa 1880's, should it not bear English hallmarks? OK, here I betray my grotesque ignorance, but that is often a good way for a proper fool like me to learn. Any comments appreciated. I am not thin-skinned. : D

Scott, thanks for commenting on my post. I would kill for a reference book which could tell me the answer. I love your jar and would love to start collecting this kind of art glass. Dumb question: Does yours have any markings or signatures? I know S&W and Harrach (because of the information you've shared with me) make this similar style of art glass. Is there a way to tell definitively if it is made by either maker? I guess for now, the mystery remains unsolved... UGH! I can't wait until I can find out more :) Thanks Scott

Also, while Stevens and Williams made glass with applied leaves, flowers, etc..., I don't believe this is one of theirs. I am confident this is Harrach.
Part of the problems is that for years ANY piece with applied glass has been labeled as S &W in the US. While it is not as bad as it was 20 years ago, the problem with the S & W attributions continues.
