I love Cadoro Jewelry... They are a bit pricy, but I have a couple of the brooches.

About Cadoro:
Steven Stuart Brody initially studied business administration at Wharton School, Pennsylvania, then attended the Curtis Institute of Music. After a stint as an actor in radio soap operas, he went to Paris, where he met Daniel Stoenescu son of the Romanian artist Eusta?iu Stoenescu, and nephew of Princess Ghika, who proposed they go into jewelry design together.

Cadoro, which was launched on Fifth Avenue, became known for inventive jewelry which used chenille and plastics alongside more traditional crystals, brushed gold, and enamel for designs which were bought by the likes of the Duchess of Windsor and Barbra Streisand.
In 1970 Brody and Stoenescu were two of a group of costume jewelry designers awarded special Coty Awards. Examples of Cadoro jewelry are held by the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Museum of Modern Art. Brody became president of the company in 1960, and when he retired in 1987, the company also closed down.

My goodness that owl is so stinking cute!
You are on a pin tear!

AmberRose...Thanks... I am embarrassed to post all my pins... I have about 600 Kittycat pins... And at least another 300 vintage brooches... Not to mention the bar pins which are in a whole other count themselves... :)

My first and foremost collection is pins and brooches... Which I haven't even started to post yet... Heehee... :)
  4. AmberRose AmberRose, 12 months ago
Oh my God I must see them all!!! Wow!! Hey at least they store easily
  5. DrFluffy DrFluffy, 12 months ago
Yes... The kittycats are in individual plastic bags with date and purchase price... The other brooches are just in individual bags, but I didn't take the time to put the date and purchase price on those. The bar pins are stored in rolled fabric. The lapel pins are all in rolled fabric too... I think I will start posting after the pending move in March. :)

    Move?
My sister used to collect old costume jewelry and took some, pinned to fabric and put into a shadow box, then hung on wall. Looked great.

We sold our home and are moving to another place locally... Downsizing :)

Omg I cant believe how organised you are! I recently got a nice big cabinet to put my jewelry in, and I felt so horrible because I could fill two more cabinets with my jewelry. It felt so over the top.
But I think the collection of most people who post here on CW is a bit bigger than mine, so that helps to get some peace of mind :-)

Newtimes... You have a beautiful collection and I love the cabinet idea... Thanks also for the loves.

Thanks DrFluffy, you have also a great collection. My husband made this jewelry cabinet especially for my bday. He made it all by hand. I might show it off here on CW some day.

900 pins! I hope to see every single one. These 2 are so lovely. Did you see the Antiques Roadshow episode where collector attached her huge pin collection to an old dressform? I like that idea.
  12. DrFluffy DrFluffy, 12 months ago
Yes I do like the idea of displaying them on a dressform.. But do you think they will get damaged being near salty air?
  13. valentino97 valentino97, 12 months ago
Yes that could happen. If you were going to do that maybe position the dressform away from windows or doors (changing temperature, salt air coming in a window). The pins on my jean jkt post are still okay and they've been on the dressform since that post months ago. I don't use any air conditioning or heat but you probably have a stable temperature at your place (new place? how's that going?)

Nadia - if and when you go to Griffith Observatory you will really love the pin collection of thousands of stars, planets, etc that were donated and displayed in their hallway exhibit. Some amazing pins.
