This is the beginning of my collection. A series of Parker fountain pens including 1st, 2nd, and 3rd generation Vacumatics, an early Duofold and a "Thrift Time".

I have a Vacuumatic but don't know what to do with it. Should I hold on to it? (I don't collect pens but found this in the drawer of an antique desk that I bought at auction)
Vacumatic is a widely collected pen. parkercollector.com will give you most of the information you need. The colour, the date of manufacture (there is a date code on most parker pens) the size and condition are all very important factors to determine it's value. If you are not given to handwriting, it is unlikely that keeping it would make it any more valuable to you. A fountain pen is a very personal item and takes on the specific characteristics of it's owner.
If you like you can take a couple of photos and I might be able to give you some more info. If you do, be sure to use the macro function of your camera, and try to get a good description of any and all markings both on the nib and the barrel of the pen.
OOPS... Thriftime not in that photo... that's a 1934 Challenger in grey marble!!
