Recently acquired this wooden statue but have not been able to ascertain much about it. I believe it is a Quan Yin statue but any information about its origin, history or value would be appreciated. It is 41 inches tall.

The guy who carved it was cross eyed, it came out sideways.

Hi Steve, this is not Quan Yin, for several reasons. She is always shown with a hood or hooded cape, head slightly bowed, eyes downcast and narrowed or closed. When standing there is a slight sway to her body so that her head is a little to the right or left of the center of the statue. This doesn't help much but I think you can eliminate Quan as a candidate and look elsewhere.. I did that without any luck. Nice piece of work, appears to be gilt and polychrome, I would guess pre-1900, maybe by several decades.
Best wishes and good luck, Jim
