This is a beautiful glass (?) Limoges bowl. This was a gift from my Mother. She had purchased it from an antique show in Portland, Oregon. I have no idea how much she paid, although I don’t believe it to much. The color draws you in, the second in picture from the right was taken outside. I love how lively it is out in the day light. I am not 100% convinced that this is glass, any info will be greatly appreciated.

      Hello Midcentmod,
Beautiful bowl or vide poche (empty pocket) from Duban et Christel. I don't think it is glass but is copper that has been enameled to create that wonderful glass like effect. I have had a look on a few french sites and have seen a few similar ones but haven't yet found one the same as yours. I also haven't found any marked "Made in France" so I assume this one was made for export. Hope this helps. Regards William.

William, Hello and thank you. I had hoped to write earlier, I am sorry for the delay. I felt this piece was Copper, It makes more sense to me. I also, work in copper, and in fact have been working with enamel. My work certainly does not lend itself to the styling of this beautiful little bowl. Did you happen to notice any intrinsic value to these sorts of bowls? I am always curious about the pieces I collect, and I know my Mother would care to know the provenance. Could you recommend the french sites?Again, thank you for your time.
      Joyfully, midcentmod

      Hello again midcentmod,
I am afraid the french don't really use the internet to the same extent so there are no sites for collectors like CW. I looked on various selling sites to see if they had something similar and how they had catalogued them. Duban and Christel produced goods together from 1957 to sometime in the mid to late 80's. As for value, although I have seen sites outside France asking for hundreds of dollars for these bowls, the true value (in France anyway) seems to be around 50-70€ (70-100$US) depending on condition and size. Both Alain Duban and Christian Christel are both alive and well and still producing enameled objects from their own studios in Limoges. Regards William.
