First is one of the Lehigh Valley's engines that pulled the John Wilkes streamlined train. Though shorn of most its classic fixtures, it still looks good here.

The next two photos depict a couple of the LVRR's gas electric cars at Rochester, NY.

Last is seen a lehigh Valley steam engine heading a freight at Niagara Falls, NY in the late 30s.

I love old train pictures. Looks like a Hudson, a pair of doodlebugs, and a Northern.

Hi, fort apache…thanks for the love, and for the comment. I agree on the doodlebugs, but I'm not sure if The LV had any Hudsons, and I'm not really sure about the last photo. When I can locate, I'll let you know, as there was some writing indicating the engine's specifics on it. All that I can recall is that it was built by Baldwin.

We share a love of the old train pics. I have more thatI'll be posting as time goes by.

      Thank you, again…Ted

I'll change my guess to a 4-6-2 pacific for the first one.
    22. Ted_Straub Ted_Straub, 10 years ago
Hi, fortapache, yes. after looking at the specs, I have to agree with you. It was a Baldwin built K-5B 4-6-2s. This engine, and its "brother" along with the power for The LV's Black Diamond (NY-Buffalo) were originally built without the Streamline effects, which were added at the line's Sayre shops.

Thanks for your interest and input!

Hi Ted, I cant find any other way to contact you, so I will just put a comment here! :) I am working on the "Lehigh Valley Railroad All Time Locomotive Roster"..and I came across a few of your photos I would love to use on the page! The photo of the LV doodlebug at Rochester, and the one of the inspection "Dorothy"..I would put "from the collection of Ted Straub" under the photos, and provide a link back to this page..(or the page the photo of Dorothy is on, for that photo..) may I please use your photos?
      thank you,
      Scot
