Good Morning Fellow Collectors,
I hope everyone is having a great week. This postcard is one that I found in a small stack that I purchased from a flea market over the holidays. I really love old postcards, and usually buy them whenever I find any. Also,when traveling for my company, or on vacation, I always buy postcards from the area I am in. They are neat souvenirs and collectables that don't take up alot of space! When buying vintage postcards, I don't mind if they have been used, or written on. I prefer that the fronts of the cards not to be written on, although you can sometimes find them interesting when the sender points out something personal or unusual about what is on the card. Going through this stack of postcards, I really did not pay alot of attention to it the first time around. Later, I happened to notice that there was hand writing on the postcard front. What I found written, puts it in "my favorites" collection. This postcard had been sent to the U.S. from France, specifically from inside the Eiffell tower, as noted by the sender, on June 16th, 1925 at nearly 1000 feet up. They had drawn an arrow to the area it was purchased from. It was also postmarked from the Eiffel tower post office. I have researched this, and have been unable to see if this is still possible to do today, with no luck. There are restaurants and viewing areas, but no mention of a post office. The postcard is made out of paper, and has held up really well, considering it is almost 90 years old. Thanks for looking and forgive me for taking up so much time. I always enjoy reading other peoples post's, and I usually try to add as much information as I can on mine. I have always said that an item is more intersting when people share a story with it. Thank you valentino97 for the love and comments! Postcards have a way of taking you to other times and places. I have loved them from as far back as I can remember. I always enjoy reading what people add when they post an item, so I always try and put down something interesting about the item, why Iam interested in it and any information that goes along with it when posting something. Sometimes I think I put down too much information! I am always glad to find other people with an interest in postcards. I have some others I will try and post in the next few days. Hi nutsabotas6, I agree with you 100 Percent!!! I also think that there is always a little "something" that can be said about an item that is posted on here. I get a little crazy when I see an item and the only comments are how old is it, and what is it worth! Surely something can be said about an item, even if it is just minor details. To me, it just seems to make an item that much better. I will also say that I don't mind people trying to find out information about things they have, but there is a right and wrong way to do it! Thanks Phil for the love and the comment. Postcards are able to make you laugh, cry and say "wow", depending on the subject. I always enjoy different types of post cards, and those that are from different locations at earlier times, they really take you back. Sometimes the message written on the cards are added bonuses!
