My husband's former wife collected antiques, she passed away and I inherited them. Unfortunately, I am not familiar with antiques and am trying to find out a little more information on this piece. It's a antique fainting couch, the carvings are beautiful, although there are a couple pieces missing. It has been recovered, don't really care for the powder blue. I would love to hear from anyone that can give me some kind of background on this piece if at all possible.

Wowsers, is it a fantastic piece. Very Beautiful chaise lounge sofa aka fainting couch. You're very fortunate to have inherited this.

Fantastic fainting couch. These were popular in Victorian days when women wore such tight corsets they would often faint from lack of oxygen circulating as well as many layers of clothes in heat . Often seen in red color . Love it .
