First Edition of The Great Gatsby found in a box of books at an estate sale. Near perfect condition, dust jacket shows a little wear at the top and minor creasing on the cover but intact. It pays to buy boxes of books.

Due to the value of this book's dust cover, I know longer keep it at home, it resides now in a saftey deposit box. I was astounded when I found out how much the dust jacket was worth. The book's dust jacket is worth a lot more than the book, A LOT MORE.

Evidently whoever had this book liked F. Scott Fitzgerald, I also found a signed copy of Beloved Infidel by Sheilah Graham in the same box.

What a great dust jacket. A beautiful colour! Do you know who created it?

In a 1990 F. Scott Fitzgerald seminar at the University of South Carolina, a discussion on the thematic connections between The Great Gatsby and its original dust jacket, mentioning the mystery of Francis Cugat (or F. Coradal-Cugat). Little is known about the artist responsible for the most eloquent jacket in American literary history: he was born in Spain in 1893 and raised in Cuba; he was brother of orchestra leader Xavier Cugat; he worked in Hollywood as a designer for Douglas Fairbanks; he had a one-man New York show in 1942; his death date is unknown. No other Cugat book jackets have been identified.

Thanks, I was quoted for the dust jacket and the book twice the amount in your first link, the dust jacket is in excellent condition and carries most if not all the value.
