Hello all. Thought we all needed a little research thingy, so here we go.
First I'll start with a little back ground info on Dick Tracy:
Dick Tracy made his debut on Oct. 4, 1931 (great day Oct. 4th, my b-day)in a Chicago paper. In 1934 made his way to Radio media, 1935 new Haven produced the first Dick Tracy wrist watch. All authorized products and promos were sign and approved by Chester Gould, the artist.
This leads me to any info you might be able to locate and share, I've search now for around a year and fell short of an answer.
When I got this is was sold as a watch fob, ok no problems thinking that it could be, but no Dick pocket watch was made, back in the day, and wrist watch not until 1935. Thinking belt attached key chain, but haven't found any leads to collaborate it and nothing to suggest whether this was store item or a radio promo. So if you know or have leads to same, would love to see.
Thanks for looking
Kerry
Update to mystery solved:
aghcollect has found it, it's a part of set , this being a belt loop pocket knife chain. Other pieces of the set included a belt buckle and a tie clip.
UPDATE #2: crazycharacter(Adam) sent me a copy of an original 1934 sales ad showing this... photo#4

I downloaded whole pdf, looking at all the goodies, seen a pocket watch from New Haven, but never have seen before and thinking a fantasy madel, the wrist watch variant was 1950's, wondering if movement and dial moved to PW casing

Great item! So, is it a watch fob then?
  28. kerry10456 kerry10456, 9 months ago
toolate2, turns out to be a "pen knife" belt chain from 1934 premiums. but watch fob is what I'll use it for, I have a correct period pen knife that matches, but looks great on a pocket watch
Thank you Michael and Nathan for the wonderful complement and showing the loves, very appreciated!!

Cool item! Great link for Dick Tracy reference! I'm guessing the pocket is a fantasy piece. The image just doesn't look correct to me. It also appears to have the newer Westclox hands I believe. Still a neat looking watch!
  32. kerry10456 kerry10456, 9 months ago
Thanks Adam, and yes totally agreed on "fantasy" watch. hands total off, pistol to large and just doesn't look right.... to me.
