    Thanks fluff I still have not tried the test I normally go by the clunk sound and weight.

    It should be obvious by now that relying on weight and sound is the wrong way to go, this being another case in point.

    It's dyed black wood and genuine ox bone most likely. These Indian bracelets incorporated dyed wood or bone (left undyed sometimes) and often had mixed media motifs with brass or silver alloy accents or frames. I can't say exactly what type of bone the used but it's clearly bone. Very popular from the 1990s onward.
