I have inherited this vase. I think it is porcelain. It says underneath withing a gold circle "Satsuma" then C.O, which I assume is country of origin, then under that "Japan".
I have done so much research but cannot find anything. I know it is not Satsuma as it is porcelain. I also know an Act to do with imports at the end of the 19th century said items had to state country of origin so I guess that is what this is. I have searched for pictures of fakes etc but drawn a blank. It is probably something mass produced in the 1980's . LOL.
I have searched every on-line cataloge for makers marks and not found anything.
So, I think this will go up into my loft for the next 20 years or so. It has been fun trying to track it down though.
