Beautiful and rare high quality Vaseline Glass / Uranium Glass Car Vases made circa 1900 ,I attribute them to Stevens and Williams does anyone else think they know who made them?? . .
They feature finely threaded green glass on a vaseline glass body and applied vaseline riggaree. They come with their original solid copper mounting brackets.
These lovely glass vases would have been used in a luxury vehicle as they are hand made and a cut above the common pressed or cut glass varieties more often encountered.
The vases could have been used in either a car or coach. Many veteran cars had vases in them not only to add beauty but to act as a deoderizer, using the aroma of the fresh flowers.
Size :- 16cm High X 15.25 cm Diameter max or 6¼" High X 3 ¼ " Diameter max.

I have some clear ones with chrome holders. They remind me more of regular cutglass vases. Crisp, fluted sides with a delicate floral pattern etched into them. Yours are really unusual--and you're the first person I've run across with any at all. Can you give me an idea what yours might be worth?
Hi Jackie , I did a fair bit of looking on the net and in books and none like these appeared anywhere . I found one specialist dealer (car vase wise) in the States and took a guess what they would be worth as car vases they are also special because they are probably S & W or another high quality British maker.Basicly I have no precedent to go by. I have them on ebay at the moment . I bought them to help with my Bohemian collection and because I love beautiful glass.
Hi Jackie contact me through ebay if you are interested in them. We are not supposed to trade on this site . regards Marty
Jackie I know of another pair of British art glass vaseline car vases but not as striking as thes just plain .
Hi Jackie, chrome holders should make the vase arround 1930's before chrome they where nickle plated it is not as shiney or mirror like as chrome . Also I think your vases would be American and mine British . I believe there wher some great coloured glass carvases made in the States by QUEZEL, SINCLAIRE, HAWKES, MC KEE, BENZER, LIBBY, HENRI MARIE, AND EVEN STUEBEN.
see this article .http://www.classicdreamcars.com/CAR%20VASES.html

Thank you, ozmarty. I really appreciate this information. It's so very nice that you did this research. The things that you able to tell about your items makes them so very interesting.
Hi Jackie ,yes I agree the story that goes with an object seems to make it come to life . part of collecting is the history ; sociology etc that surrounds an object who, how ; when etc was it used .
Please keep up the good work!
