Just need some help identifying the ever elusive Asian marks. Always close but never exact. Great ginger jar without lid. Beautiful simple design.

    Looks like the artist signed their own name in the box.....the crane is probably representing a company...

    Hi vintagechild

    The mark you see here is a painters mark. With this sort of mark or monogram, if the characters are Red on a White background, it is a male painters mark or monogram and if it the characters are white on a Red background it belongs to a female. The mark abovfe it which looks like a leaf it called the ARTEMSIA leaf used on Kangxi porcelain but it is incomplete. The clay itself is too new and vibrant to be an authentic period piece but it is more than likely an early to mid 20th century of a Kangxi vase. Great peice though!
