I am trying to find out what the sayings printed on side of Stein (in German) mean. "Mach' es wie die Sonbenuhr" and "Zahl' die heiteren Stunden nur" mean. Also I need to get help with markings on bottom. It is clearly marked ""Western Germans" a number "5" and either "7/4" or possibly "714". Therwme is also a mark of "73" on bottom. This has been a real mystery to me, and I would appreciate any help. As with my other mug there is asmall hole on handle near rim, I wonder if it was for a lid?

714 is actually 1/4 - denotes 1/4 liter, the size. - The saying is to the effect "let time pass slowly (like a sundial), counting the cheerful (or happy) hours only"
