Here are the photos of after we removed the canvas. The wood is very light colored with no grain - friend said is was ply wood. There was a ton of glue holding the canvas on - it was a workout taking it off. Now we stained it and the stain held lightly, Ipswich Pine, then I used a coat of tung oil and it looks very nice. The leather we pretreated with oil.
Any info welcome. Thanks.
The wood is Basswood. What "oil" did you use? About the only thing I would use (and the most effective) is Mink oil.
