It's the cap badge of the Queen's York Rangers (1st American Regiment) of the Canadian Army. The unit traces it's linage back to the Queen's Rangers that ARJason helpfully provided.
I just felt that it was going to be a great find! Bet there aren't but a few of those around. You struck gold.
