Wondering about this doorstop that was in my 82 year old aunt's estate. She loved Boston's and has a massive collection. It is inscribed with 1872 on the bottom. Not sure if it is a Hubley or not? Is there anyway to tell? It weighs approximately 5 pounds...
    Thanks!

Very nice ,these are being reproduced still like Hubley made and I am wondering if he is not a reproduction . A few clues make me think that but hopefully a expert will chime in . Nice post :-)

I'm not the expert but I have to say this is a newer repo. The rough casting, rough mold lines and lack of finer details tell the story.

I really think there have been way more reproductions of these than Hubley actually made. John Wright used the Hubley molds sometime in the early 50's? and made some nice ones but he marked them. I can't remember how, maybe JW or a symbol??
