      Yes, made to carry a shovel, definitely not American, not sure who or when.

      The references I'm using to find all your entrenching tools and covers is "Field Equipment of the Infantry 1914-1945" by Robert Fisch. It has a whole chapter just on all the different shovels and picks the different armies carried in either of the two world wars. I definitely would not be knowing this stuff from memory ;)
