    I think this is covered in preservative. Very unique. Much better condition than what it looks like in the photo. There is a number on it but I am not sure what it is. Thanks.

      Thank you also fortapache for the info on that. I appreciate it. How do I clean it off or should I clean it off?

      There seem to be a variety of opinions on how to clean it off. Personally I think hot water and dish soap will work. Boiling water by itself is probably better.
      You would want to dry out the inside of the scabbard and dry everything off to avoid rust.
