These are two 1953 regular issue postage stamps issued by Egypt - they depict Farouk I of Egypt (1920-1965), who was the tenth ruler from the Muhammad Ali Dynasty and the King of Egypt and the Sudan, succeeding his father, Fuad I of Egypt, in 1936. - He was overthrown in the Egyptian Revolution of 1952 and forced to abdicate in favor of his infant son Ahmed Fuad, who succeeded him as Fuad II of Egypt. His sister Princess Fawzia Fuad was the first wife and Queen Consort of the Shah of Iran Mohammad Reza Pahlavi. King Farouk died in exile in Italy in 1965. - These stamps were issued in 1945 and then in 1953 after the King's abdication were issued with three bars overprinted in black to obliterate his portrait.
- Overprint is not a cancellation, so stamps are considered to be mint-unused. (1953)
