It would seem my pictures are getting cut off when I put them up here. They are from a scanner and look fine and full on my computer but cut down here. Suggestions? I did read the tips, what did I miss?

Anyway, this is one of two pieces that came in a small white cotton lined box. It is a pendant or locket or along those lines. There was also a paper in the box with a list of payments made. The year was 1926 and I think the total cost is either $6.95 or $16.95. The inside has a heart with the letters W&H inside the heart and CO under the C&H, a bit lower is says 10K. I assume that is the gold content. The front outside has some markings but I can't make them out, initials I think.

I believe the maker is Wightman & Hough / 10k gold photo locket -- Wightman & Hough were a Providence, Rhode Island firm from 1856-1922. -- I cannot deciper the intials monogramed on the front mainly because it is shown almost upside down. - (Is that a typo in your description "under the C&H") - The hallmark for Wightman & Hough is a W&H over CO (for company) in a heart. - Also, you say 1926, but it seems they closed around 1922?

The paper is quite difficult to read as it was written in pencil and is badly faded. I will double check the marks in the heart. The marks are very clear so I may have typed it incorrectly.

I appreciate the loves and will try being more accurate in the future.

Well you say in your description "the letters W&H inside the heart and CO under the C&H" - did you mean "CO under the W&H" ? - - W&H and CO inside the heart is indeed the Wightman & Hough mark. - If you add another picture with the front initials engraving but turn it upright, maybe I could decipher the monogram for you.

Yes the W&H over CO is all inside the heart the 10K is below the heart. When I turn it right side up the initials are quite clear RM. Nobody I ever knew. I only kept it because of the 10K mark which I took for gold and assume it has a scrap value if nothing else. I did find the Wightman & Hough mark online and it matches. I appreciate your time, effort and input. I am not actually a collector more what you might call a hoarder trying to break the habit.

OK - glad I could help :) -- Hoarding is nothing to be ashamed of and of course gold is one of the best things to hoard anyway.
