Another of my better Japanese pieces.
Kamei Glass Osaka was one of the glass factories producing a variety of glass in the 60s and 70s. They typically made small vases, bowls, ashtrays etc like my little blue and white vase here, but also produced some wonderful hand formed art glass as well. I think Kamei continued making art glass through the 90s and in later years moved to making pressed and cut crystal. I don't know if they are still producing.
As Rose's vase also showed Kamei had some excellent glass artists working for them and their range is very varied but all well made.
If it's not stickered it can be hard to attribute. Some have a flat polished base, some have a concave polished base, and colours and styles vary from Italianate to Czech to American.
I have again had trouble researching the factory and it's artists. It's ongoing but my Japanese extends to konnichi wa so I'm pretty limited (again!).
This vase is 250mm wide and weighs 2.3kgs.
