I picked this up today for a few bucks. It looks pretty cool w/ my lava lamp inside of it. It is just a shade - no electricity. I'm assuming it's for a candle or something, but i don't really know. I don't think it's very old, but it's well-made. any ideas on what it is or if it's any good?

i found out a little bit more about this piece. not as common as i thought it was! it's called a table lantern and it's made of carved rosewood, glass panels w/ rice paper silhouettes. these were often made as a pair for wedding presents. this one is particularly large and the carving is pretty nice. i think it's from 1920-1940, but not sure.
