I found this bowl at an estate sale. It measures 10" in dia., 3 3/4" high, and a base of 5" in dia. The bowl is appears to be porcelain, the base color of the bowl is white as the bottom photo shows. Its condition is as follows: several chip along the rim, which indiacte that the color, carving of material is a coating on the porcelain bowl. I am asking if anyone might recognize the work and/or the artist. It required a lot of work to produce the features etc.

    Many thanks.

      Thanks Sean,
This piece continues to be a mystery to me.
I look at it from time to time, hoping something comes to mind.

I see this was posted 3 years ago, but I was hoping when I saw the picture of your bowl that your mystery had been solved. I too am looking for information on a bowl that I just acquired. Mine is the exact design as yours, but in shades of green not purples. The one I have has two sets of numbers written in black marker on the bottom; 813 is written above 5053.

      Hi Chloebird,
Wow, to be honest, I have not even thought of this bowl for years now. Yes, it is very unusual, and difficult to pin down. Can you please post photos of yours with the features you have described. I would love to see a bowl like mine. Regards, Kirk

      Hi Kirk,
I just posted photos of the bowl I have in a new posting. Maybe some fresh eyes might help identify the artist.

      Dear chloebird,
It's easy to see that our bowls are related. I like yours, it has a great green color, and yours appears undamaged. Mine has seen some usage, although I don't know what for, maybe someone was just careless. Regards, Kirk
