I have my Great Grandmother's Rocker; which has always had the worn/torn rattan since owning it. My question, should I have it replaced or can it be repaired?

I'm not sure of the exact age, around 100, and I always hate making old things new. But it is time to pass this onto our great niece. It will be used. So repair/replace will need to take place.

Any suggestions, directions or general knowledge greatly appreciated.

It can be redone. the problem is finding some one who can do a basket weave. 99% percent who do caneing. don't do a basket weave.

Thanks Crazy-Ike for your comment. I know this sounds "simple minded" but is there a chair basket weaving guild of some sort that I could find in my area? I have no idea how to go about finding the correct specialist. That is why it has stayed in it's current condition. I am concerned with my lack of knowledge for "basket weave" I may ruin the rocker. I am in the Middle Tennessee area, if that helps anyone in guiding me in the right direction. Again thank you for your reply.
      Best Regards

Your in the right area, for this sort of thing. just check some of your local Antique shop's as to who they use for caneing repair and then go from there.
