Hi to all of you weekend treasure hunters and collectors. I picked this up at an estate sale not normally a pottery enthusiast but just really liked this one.looked at it twice did a little haggling and brought it home. it is 20" tall by 14 wide . I was not familiar with the marks on the bottom but found him quickly online the only thing is I do not know if this was a pot made to help out the quetzal or just named for the bird. all of the pottery by this maker I have seen does not have a name of the subject . any help would be appreciated thanks.

I just discovered Makovkin pottery. A yard sale find. I'd like to know more about this artist. Mine has a different maker's mark...and I've seen both maker's marks on Ebay. Mine says "Made for Senor Pico"...which was apparently a restaurant chain in California...where the artist lived. Any info would be appreciated.

I have a Makovkin pitcher with shot glass lid. She was a potter from Mendocino, Ca. That is all I know. Good luck!

Sasha was my husband for 36yrs. We worked together in Mendocino: he created this vase, I [Sue Makovkin] carved the Quetzal. Before the mid-70's Sasha used a bone-shape signature. After the mid-70's he created the signature you see here. It is comprised of one wing and the tail feathers of a dove.
