I got this in a junk shop for little or nothing and just love it. I think it's bone or ivory and maybe Chinese or Japanese. Sadly it is cracked in half but was fixed. I really don't know anything about it but would love to findout some information about the come.

    Hi, I don't see striations typical of bone so it could be ivory. Look for a crosshatch pattern, especially around the small knobs at the top. indicative of ivory. Google 'Schreger lines' to find examples of this pattern. Knowing the results would be nice. Regards, Jim

    I don't see the lines crossing one another but I do see parallel lines.

    The crosshatch pattern is most prominent in cross sections, for example, the base of a statue. Parallel lines are often seen on curved surfaces. You probably have ivory. Finding someone who knows ivory to examine it first hand woud be the way to go.
