This Kewpie is 2.5 inches tall who just had a bath. Given to me by a doll seller in town.

Is Kewpie a He or a She? And what company could have possible produced this one?

In black and white I can't tell what it is made of . Does it have blue wings ? It is a newer Kewpie but I need to see back also . There are Kewpie look a likes too ,they need the blue wings . Is it marked ? Many of these were also reproduced in ceramic classes .
The original Kewpies were created by Rosie O'Neill and made of bisque in Gemany Through the years other companies made them . Kewpie's were girls boys or babies depending on pose of figure , One like yours would be seen as a girl , They came nude or dressed in crepe paper clothes so the boy was more obvious dressed .They started out in a book in 1909 she drew photo's for and called them elf like characters . There were babies ,boys, and girls .
) was an American illustrator, artist, and writer who created the popular comic characters, Kewpies. After the growing popularity of O'Neill's Kewpie cartoons upon their publication in 1909, the characters were made into bisque dolls in 1912 by a German toy company, and later in composition material and celluloid. They were wildly popular in the early twentieth century, and are considered to be one of the first mass-marketed toys in America

It is made of hard plastic. Has blue wings at the back, no markings. It actually has a string on his head, used as car displays. I didnt know many have produced Kewpie.

      Thanks!
