I recently inherited these two boxes. I'm am particularly interested in the Sterling Silver box/tray.
    Small box size: approx. 1"x1-3/4"
    Tray size approx. 2"x 2-1/2"
Watermark: John C. Moore II (1907-1947)
    Pattern #20958, Order #5477
This is as much information as I could find. I couldn't find a picture of this any where. Anyone who may have information on this piece will be greatly appreciated!

The M at the bottom of the marks is that of John C. Moore 1907 - 1947. The pattern number 20958 suggests a date of 1927 according to the list I have on pp. 260 & 261 of Tiffany Silver by the Carpenters.
Would they have been for cigarettes?
      Very handsome!
      What an inheritance!

Yes. From what I could find out, men carried small silver match boxes to cover the matches to carry in their shirt pocket in case of an unexpected match light! They boxes were used for cigarettes and cigars. The tray is unique, in that I couldn't find another one like it. And yes, I am sorting through several pieces of silverware, serving pieces and rare coins. I'm excited to learn about each piece. Just wish I was into entertaining and cooking. The serving pieces are exquisite. However, I can barely cook a hotdog!
      Thank you for the information!
