    This is a 1946 merchant marine stamp, designed by V.S. Closkey, Jr. It was issued on February 26, 1946 in the District of Columbia [Scott # 939]. It shows a Liberty ship loading cargo. There are about 35 First Day Covers [of about 64 known] for the merchant marine stamp.
