Not sure when these were made. Leather handles on the side. Paper lining inside. Just looking for ANY information on this type of trunk. Thanks!

You have actually named this correctly -- a steamer trunk, small size trunk that could fit in the cabin of a ship, some say under the bunk, but there is a debate about that. Yours looks to be about 1920's or 30's. Looks like it has vulcanized fiber covering. Dogs do not usually come with them but yours must have been a special order one. Looks like a shipping label on the top, or an address and name, which would indicate this old gal had some travel. Nice little trunk -- thanks for the post. Any other questions?
@Trunkman - Thank you so much for your response! The label on top was just a piece of note paper that had been taped there for a trip to NJ to Florida. Nowhere on this trunk can I find a maker. After pulling up the paper from inside today (and giving the outside covering a deep cleaning), I discovered that the trunk seems to be made of a thinner wood (Perhaps plywood?) Also, the covering on the trunk is very plastic-y feeling. There is one section underneath where there is a small hole that looks to have almost a stripped canvas look. However the material feels nothing like... The lock is a T47 Long Lock. I am looking for some info as to what it could be covered with. I have been looking and looking online with no luck. I would appreciate any insight you may have. Thanks so much!
The edges are definitely vulcanized fiber but the body may well be plastic on top of plywood. It cleaned up nicely. If it is plastic it would shine with Armour All -- and those latches need a stiff rub with steel wool to get the rust off and then a shot of gun oil. Careful not to scratch the plastic body with the steel wool.
