This is a 1997 issued ashtray and lighter set to commemorate the handover ceremony officially marking the transfer of sovereignty over Hong Kong from the United Kingdom to the People's Republic of China. The ashtray is a two-piece metal, 3 1/8" diameter, with a glass bottom that has a commemorative applied graphic of Hong Kong and 1997. The ashtray is enameled with a bright yellow and red. The lighter is a refillable butane-fueled with a yellow enameled metal case and the same graphics label applied to the front. - Set issued in a green cardboard gift box with a clear acetate window cover. - The official ceremony was held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in Wan Chai.
