Found this Art Deco ashtray stand and I'm very curious as to its age and history or details.photos not great, but it's marked ,Everlite, Brooklyn,NewYork.
    Bronze,quite heavy and very detailed.
If anyone can tell me why I should love this piece...please do!
Item has a Bakelite piece in the bottom and at one time possibly would light up-evidence of a cord.
    Thanks for any information.

I don't collect ashtrays anymore but I can tell you this is a familiar one. They were quite popular. It isn't actually solid bronze. In good condition they are very collectable. I assume you probably don't have the original ashtray insert.

If you take the time to Google everlite nude bronze smoking stand (or ash tray) you will find it qucikly. If you research the company you will see it is bronze look over a base metal. Depending on when it was made the insert would have been either glass or marble. You need to do your homework especially when it comes to the electric cord port. I don't think the first ones lighted but then I am old and forgetful on some details. Regardless of all else if it is an original it has decent value as ashtrays go. There were a number of lawsuits over this image believe it or not. So doing some research can make a difference. As I remember everlite lost the suits. I believe at that point there were changes made to the original and everlite had to pay damages to the artist. Originals before the suit would obviously hold more value. This type ashtray is always an item of interest to an ashtray collector and believe it or not door stop collectors will buy them if the price is right.

Unfortunately my husband and I are not avid collectors of the suggested piece so we're learning as we go along. I read the lawsuit info and did some research via Google and printed pictures. The stand pot metal we have determined this much - we were afraid to clean it . Guess we can proceed with caution.
Thanks so much everyone for the interesting info! What a great group of folks!

This is very similar to the Nuart Ashtray stand, except your has a drape around the center. I can see why there might have been a lawsuit.
Try googleing Nuart ashtray stand and you will see what I mean.
