I love this serving plate. My mother's cousin gave it to her in the 60's or 70's. The piece came from the St. Louis, or Southern Illinois area. I don't know where my cousin got it, but I feel she found it at a sale or shop. I love the art deco design on the handles with appear to be brass, the rim is copper. The bottom stamp reads Dec. 1657 and then there is a triangular with a 47 at the bottom. The pattern is so lovely and unusual. I believe it is a sugar maple with seed pods. I love the silvery blue color and the fine details on the leaves are in white the seed pods a soft camel brown. the circle around the leaves is a two tone blue and appear to be hand drawn. The handles are welded onto the cooper rim and there are sets of 3 triangle stamped through the cooper rim at 5-6 inch intervals. I love the use of the 3 materials and the art deco look of the handles.

Looks like an old Wachtersbach of Germany mark from the late 19th century. Don’t know the significance of that date though, maybe it was a custom order for a family?
