Very nice old coiled basket tray with handle,I've had this basket about 15 years I was informed at one time it might be Native American, but not sure, measure from handle 16"x11",has a few stains and some places basket is loose, anyone know what type basket,is it really Native American.

This is Native American, this basket is called a Trivet. It was made by a member of the Inuit Tribe of Alaska. They used dyed sea grass to wrap around other kinds of grass to make these baskets. I collect Native American basketry and have a few of this kind of work. The "V" part is put there so the basket could be hung on the wall, which is why you see many of these baskets for sale and the V part is broken away from the basket. Not yours though :)
