I dug this out of a really musty, messy cellar in an old house and I love it. I am guessing it is a wall mounted washstand mirror. I would love to know what year this would have been from. From an old New Englander home. I got a layer of black grime off it and found another layer underneath. Any other lovers of old utilitarian furniture out there?
I would venture to say this is well after WWII. The back looks like melamine board. It has obviously been repaired so that may have been added. The drawer joints are half butt and would tell me this was probably made locally and probably pine wood. This type piece is really junk to lots of people but to others it is more than treasure. Putting this in a shop in Boston you could name your price, a shop in Vermont or New Hampshire would probably laugh at you. The reason being city people love old farm houses and buy them to restore. The local people see city people as suckers and sell at top dollar. This is a good piece depending on the market you offer it in.

One of my kids lives in NH and I love it when yard sale season comes around, great finds, great prices and great people too.

Cindy - I lived many years in the Monadnock Region of New Hampshire and was born and raised in Southern Vermont. There are still lots of treasures in hiding up there if you know where to look. Those old dirt roads off the beaten path can yield some nice items. Make sure you dress like a slob and drive a rust bucket so you fit in and look poor......you will get much better deals. If you live out of state and have an accent to your voice don't talk to much or the price will go up.
Let's see, I drive a car that is 20 years old, I think I can fit the bill just fine.
