    (284 items)

Handmade fabric/rug of wool and linen from Skåne in southern Sweden. They are woven in a variety of techniques and were used as a wall hangings and bench lengths. Most were woven during the years 1750-1850, and also in the early 1900s. Röllakan (or even flatweave) is a weaving technique which is a simpler variant of tapestry fabric. A similar technique is Kelim, common in the Arabic tradition. This fabric is probably made in the early 1900s and the yarn might be dyed plant but I´m not sure as the colours are not as strong as in the other older one that I have posted. I think it is very beautiful, which crafts! This rug/hanging is 2,42 meters long.

Another wonderful piece Elisabeth. I can imagine someone by the fire in winter at the loom making this.
Do these hang at your place? They are textile art!

Thankyou Karen! I have recently bought these and I'm going to hang them in my home. I can also imagine that, and that's probably how it was. In the summer people in rural areas where occupied with harvest and other things. The wool was being taken care of and they made the yarn and coloured it. So I think these textiles often were made in the winners when they had the time. Thanks for your lovely coment :-).
