Seeking information on this doll found thrifting. Signed & dated yet can't make out the signature on it. Made of clay/ceramic type material (not resin), approximately 22 inches in height, appears all hand made and painted. Thanks.

She is quite a lovely characater , Made in 1975 as a artist series . I would suspect there are more to her family made also .I can't read name sideways . Love her.
She is a original sculpt but my guess wouldbe they made a mold at some time and would press clay or porcelain into it One woud think she would not sculpt each one ? I will look and write more on her later ok :-)

Oh Ok I can read name She is Karen Germany and was the artist and creator for the Daddy long long series of dolls . These dolls are collectible and quite charming .Yours is a early one before Company so much more special :-)

Karen Germany, who was born in Dallas, Texas and proudly remains a native Texan today. She resides in Southlake with Brent, her husband of many years, and her tiny Yorkie, Dolly.

Karen says that she tries to keep her priorities in order by – first loving God and pleasing Him, secondly loving her family and caring for them, and thirdly loving others and encouraging everyone she meets.

Her goal as a designer is to create artwork that makes the collector smile and characters that make you think of someone special. Since 1985, Karen has designed each of these unique collectible dolls.Realizing there was a void in the gift industry for good quality ethnic products, Karen developed Daddy’s Long Legs dolls into a predominately African-American collection. This unique family of dolls quenched the thirst of many collectors for over eighteen years.

Sadly, the company has retired Daddy’s Long Legs® collection in July of 2003 due to rising costs of domestic production.
