Found this at estate sale.. The trunk has white padded cloth inside.. The top above the wood is like a woven straw type matte. like a tikki bar but really tight.. The bottom has 3 Mazda Lamps stamps on it, also says glass keep box... also says if not delivered correctly contact General Electric Company, harrison, nj. The sides are also in this woven material attached to the wood. has some sort of letter d or something that looks like a design of some sort.

In 1909, General Electric first used the name Mazda on their lamps (light bulbs). Today, we associate the name with automobiles, but when it was first used by GE it was chosen due to the fact that Persian mythology gave the name Ahura Mazda to the god of light. GE used the name into the early 1920's. What you have is an early shipping case from GE, then someone added the lining materials and other covering to turn it into some type of personal chest. The fancy letter C in brass tacks and inside was probably their last name initial. The old GE crate could be worth some money to a collector.
