Here is a Victorian style bakelite and celluloid cameo pin, probably dating from the 1940's.
    3" x 2"
I like wearing it on a vintage blouse or dress.

?? Just wondering if it is Bakelite -- or Gutta percha? I have a mourning (jet black) cameo pin (brooch) posted too. Mine is carved and IS gutta percha if you want to take a look.

Here is some info about Bakelite and Gutta percha:

Hi! I've just read your commentary... I didn't know what gutta percha was. Thanks for all the info! Very interesting...
I actually have no idea if it is gutta percha or bakelite. It tests for bakelite with simichrome, but I hear gutta percha does as well. Makes me curious about the subject: I think I will do some research about it...
Anyway, I saw your cameo and find it gorgeous!
