Here I have two Pyrex Cinderella nesting bowls in two different shades of green. They're being put to very good use ;)
They work amazingly well when being used to let bread dough rise in the oven. I used the steaming water bath technique. Where you place a pan filled with boiling water under the dough filled bowl, to keep the temperature between 82°- 85° F to help the dough rise. As you can see in the last photo, the steam bath worked extremely well on the French baguette's ;)
The bowls have been very well used, for many, many years.
The finish on the outside is dull, they may have been subjected to heat from a dishwasher.

Thanks Phil. They finished off a whole loaf before we even sat down to eat.
Nuts, thank you for the kind words.
AR, this would be the perfect recipe to start with.

My grandma made her own bread and calzone .... I am trying to remember her making the bread ... Not in a bowl, i think after the dough was made ... She put a towel over it and just let it sit out on the counter ?

Hi *i*, Sounds like a wonderful memory and a lovely grandma. I tried to collect as many of my grandmothers recipes as I could.
My house is too cold to leave the bread on the counter. I do cover the bowl with a towel but I have to put mine in the oven to keep it warm enough to rise. Everyone's environments are different as well. Some have more humidity than others. It is a great bread recipe and looks like it would work well for a French bread pizza crust.

Hi Lundy, that was with last night's dinner but if it was up to the Fam it would be on the table every night :) Thank you for the love and kind words.

Gus, thank you as well for the love :)

I had calamari at a restaurant once ... Yuck ... "You want calamari?" she asked. Oh boy, what difference fresh homemade makes.
  14. Aimathena, 4 months ago
Icky. The Hubster will eat that stuff. Not me. I'm with you, I'd rather have homemade. At least I know what's in it ;)

Kerry Thank you for the love

Start every morning off with a bowl of oatmeal ... Not the instant ... The one that boils in water ... Topped with fresh cinnamon ...
  16. Aimathena, 4 months ago
My son loves oatmeal. He calls it porridge. LoL
I make it with milk, vanilla bean, brown sugar, a pinch of salt... *&* apple pie spice or pumpkin pie spice. Depending on the topping. We love cream of wheat as well.

Oh my ... i forgot about Cream of wheat ... With a pat of butter on top ...
  18. Aimathena, 4 months ago
My mother always made cream of wheat when I was growing up. She made the sweet version. No butter.

:) :) :) :) it's all good ... My dad made spaghetti , meatballs and gravy every weekend ... Holidays, lasagna ... So even after my brothers and sisters got married and such ... We would always know we could stop by my parents on Sunday for Spaghetti ... All day, every Sunday ... Wasn't until I grew up that I think I figured out, that was his way to keep the family together ...
