This is an altered 1930's vintage industrial brushed steel portable tool box or chest with it's missing single interior fold out tray. This petite chest is comprised of folded steel with original lockable hasp and bent steel drop handle. Sometime during it's existence, someone decided to replace the interior tray with two compact wood boxes and a crushed velvet lid liner. The handle backplate still features it's unique deco style "stepped" profile with lightly incised manufacturer markings of Union Utility Chest as well as 1 inch increments of measurement to 12 inches. Besides this cabinet's exterior "Cabernet" paint job, the exterior bottom still retains it's original powder coat olive green enameled finish.
