Here is a early WW II Japanese sun helmet. This type of helmet was issued in all theaters of operation as an alternative to the heavier steel helmet. Sometimes these were worn over the steel helmet in order to keep the steel helmet from it getting too hot. It has a simple liner, and the soldiers name is inked on the outside as well as the inside of the helmet.
