A large Kamei vase that my research suggests is from the 80s or 90s.

There has been a lot of work put into this vase but the result hasn't matched effort in my opinion. Not my favorite by a long way but I think the decor is probably relevant to the taste(less) of the time it was made!

Multiple casing starting with a pink interior, a white layer, another pink, gold inclusions in the final clear casing. I am assuming the white glass has been included to give the pink intensity. The vase appears to have been moulded then hot worked. It's a bit off because the gold has been added in swirls but the swirls in the clear glass are not matched to them.

Sorta OK but not Kamei's best piece! However in my efforts to champion Japanese glass and learn about it I am still happy keeping this one.

Typical Kamei pontil with ground and concave base.

Large at 250mm and quite heavy 2050mg.
Partial Kamei Glass sticker on the front, Kamei Glass Osaka No. 1005 sticker to the base.

Thanks Inky and Kevin! I really shouldn't state my opinions so openly should I. Let you all make your own decisions! Glad yours were positive.

    Thanks also the quick AGH!

Nice vase but I am not sure the gold inclusions add anything to the piece. You are quite right Karen, if the gold had echoed the swirls in the glass it would have made all the difference. Regards William.

I love it!! Can you post a pic of the Label here!! Glad you are working on info on KAMEI as it still is an underdog in Glass -- and many examples to be found yet!!

......But We will try to find them....LOL

    Thanks William! I agree.

Rose we will be the champions! Of Japanese glass or a lost cause.
Photo of base now. Typical production base sticker from my other observations.
Do you have any idea of the numbering system? I notice now with macro it actually is No. 1025 not 1005.

It's funny because it looks so Japanese to me. Of course the gold would be placed like that...just a different flavor or appreciation there. I have trouble appreciating it I'm afraid.

Amber! Nooo! Now I think you have REALLY good taste! lol

It is very Japanese or maybe any Asian - a bit like those OTT dresses they make for little girls - another ruffle, another ribbon, a bit brighter colour!
