THIS CARVING IS 25 INS HIGH AND 6 INS WIDE ,IT IS VERY WELL CARVED AND HAS GREAT DETAIL ON THE FACES AND FORM OF THE PIECE ,I THINK IT IS A AFRICAN PIECE , I GOT THIS AT ESTATE SALE AND THE MAN SAID HIS SISTER HAD GONE TO AFRICA BACK IN THE 1950'S AND HAD GOT THIS AS A GIFT FROM THE TRIBE THAT SHE MISSIONARY AT THE TIME ,LOOKS LIKE A WOMAN STANDING AND A MAN SITTING AT HER SIDE,NOW THAT BEING SAID THAT IS WHAT I WAS TOLD BY THE MAN I BOUGHT IT FROM IF ANY OF YOU KNOW BETTER AND RECOGNIZE IT TO BE SOMETHING ELSE PLEASE TELL ME YOUR THPOUGHTS ON THE PIECE,AND HE SAID THEY WERE IN ZIMBABWE MAYBE IF THAT MIGHT ANY DIFFERENCE. to be honest its a strange one, i've not seen anything similar, the ladies face confuses me the most oh that and her costume, she doesn't look african at all more asian and the dress/robe seems odd....the gentleman looks african.....hope someone with more knowledge comes along....
