Picked this up from Salvation Army yesterday. Christi had pulled it for me knowing I probably would like it. She was correct as always. It's a nice little mid-century 8" coffee server made by Redwing Pottery from their "Gypsy Trail" line. I love the blue color and the shape is simple and elegant.The interior is done in an ivory color glaze. While the teak or walnut handle has bleached out a bit over the years, a bit of tung oil should bring it back nicely. The style number "565" is embossed on the bottom. There are three stilt marks to keep it raised it in the kiln since the bottom is glazed. It may or may not have had a lid as it was optional for a time. Most of the one's online seem to be aqua or white I didn't see any with this beautiful shade of blue. -Mike-

Hmmmm....I don't know Amber... except for the handle the ceramic shapes are close to the Franciscan "El Patio" pattern. Somebody is copying someone here. I have a Bauer gravy boat and it's marked "Bauer" USA on the bottom. This is confusing. your piece looks exactly like mine except I'm missing the lid. Darn it. I might have to change my post. Although I thought I read somewhere about a connection between Gladding McBean and Bauer. -Mike-

OK so what I gather from all this is the three companies used just about identical ceramic bodies , but for the handle shape, type of marking and the interior color. So mine is a standard "565" mark + white interior + blue color +bottom of handle meets the body but is not attached = A standard "Redwing" 565 coffee server without the optional lid. It was a tough call there are a lot of confusing attributions out there. Thanks everyone for the info :) -Mike-
Hello mike is there anyway you could reshoot the photo for the bottom so I could see more!!
I don't see anything and I'm holding it under a high intensity lamp. Probably just anomalies in the glaze color. Looks just like a darker band of blue under the numbers. It plays tricks on your eyes if you want to see something badly enough. I used the photo editor to try and bring out anything, invert colors, relief, outline, emboss. and sharpen. Nothing there but the numbers. I have Redwing pieces and if they are marked it's with their name, raised letters and numbers or clearly embossed numbers or ink stamps on older pieces. American potteries were not required to put the companies name on items after WW II. Maybe just the style number or USA or both. Later on there's nothing, maybe a paper label. That's what makes some pottery so hard to ID after the 50's .
