This lovely bowl and stand is actually one of a pair (just posted the other one) and have had for a little while, unfortunately at this moment packed away…the other one has the same stand but a different bowl, so whether they were originally like this or one broke and is a replacement I will never know.

I do know that when I researched the silver plated mark I found it was English - mid to late 19th century...but sorry!...can’t remember actually when, I did know!

From memory they stand 10 to 13cm or 4 to 5 inches tall.

I have seen this glass classified as English and Bohemian, if anyone tell me which?..that would be great..thanks!

Hope you love them as much as I do…and many thanks for looking…:-)

Thank you is one of the most beautiful things I have...I love the base it is so detailed....:-)
  2. AnneLanders AnneLanders, 3 years ago
there are so many aspects that make this beautiful...the stance of the males/females, hard to see, acting as handles, the silver, even though plate, looks right..and that amazing glassware colour, has to be my fav the red and the green...

and here's a question...I thought Bohemian was a style and an era, not an surely it could be Bohemian and British if it were made there...or is Bohemian just classed as Eastern European countries like Czech, Autro-Hungarian etc...I'm interested to learn..

Love this one Inky. It reminds me of rubina verde shades, but even better because you have stripes. Do you use them as salts?

Wow Inky. Capital S Serious bit of gear here!.
I would like the silver just for itself, let alone the glass, and together I'm a bit speechless. But.... somehow for me they don't match.
I'm thinking English glass, and it might be Stourbridge, with that match of vaseline stripes and pink. That means it was probably made for the base, despite my comment above!

Anne you are correct that Bohemian relates to the region, not the style.

Looking again Inky, they were probably made for each other. The flare matches the trio of figures perfectly!

Lisa-lighting...I actually don't use then at all...they would be too big for salts..more of a sugar or jam bowl...:-)

    Thank you to.....

Inky this is so very beautiful. I really like the metal base. Happiest of Easter's to you and yours :)

Sorry that was silly if me. You stated that right in your title.
You must treat yourself to breakfast in bed one morning. This would be beautiful on a sweet bed tray with Jam a tiny toast rack and a short bud vase.
    What do you think?

Hi inky. I'm pretty confident your bowls are english. Have a look at a dealer online called Mike Weedon. He has a good selection of english glass & well categorised. You'll find a selection of objects & period light shades that are similar.

If they both fit well it's likely the bowls are original to the stand. I've often seen the same mount matched with a different piece of glass or vice versa.
