This is an unusual item, purple and white enamel. Silver, with a gold pin. Minor enamel flecks.
The white enamel central design is clearly a motif used by Jessie M King for Liberty, who also used gold pins.
However I have never seen a bar brooch like this. Liberty, fake/repro or something else?

to me it does seem like a Jessie King Liberty original, lovely!
Looks right for JMK to me, but I've never seen any examples of this design. What it really reminds me of is that Liberty belt buckle with the birds that's a bit Wilkie looking. Do you know the one I mean? Any chance of a shot of the back?
photographs of the back and side, they show that its been somewhere warm and dry for a long time, slight deterioration of the silver, could do with a good polish...

No, me either Jewels, its normally more...organic a design, its rather unusual isn't it, that's why I'm not so sure, but I really want it to be, also clouding my judgement somewhat probably.

I know what you mean about what you want it to be. I have to watch that myself. The other option for this one could be Agnes Banksier Harvey. I've never seen a piece that I'd consider directly comparable, but the looseness of design is similar.
I'm finding it difficult to find jewellery or enamel pieces by Agnes Bankier Harvey but I'll keep looking.
There's a single example in the Schiffer Arts & Crafts jewellery & metalwork book. It's been a while since I got out my Glasgow books. I'll have a look over the next few days & see if I can find anything else. There's a little booklet on Scottish Arts & Crafts jewellery, do you have it?

Thanks for the A+C ref, while flicking through the book I noticed a small plique drop from another item of jewellery I have was in the book, attached to a fantastic pendant, sadly unattributed other than American, but a reminder to keep searching through your references.
I've got good news & bad news. The bad news is that the booklet I was thinking of is about Glasgow Style. Only a Thew cross pictured. But good if you're generally interested in Glasgow. The good news is, amazing really, while I was looking for it I found a German book I've been looking for for ages because it has pages of original photos of jewels. You're Gaskin pendant is in it! I mean in it! It's not the identical one but close enough that its and easy attribution. I'll take a photo for you & post it. How good it that!
Ah, I have a small Glasgow girls book, but its not an area I've read up on much yet (life keeps getting in the way, as I'm sure you're aware, congratulations on your little boy). Thank you so much for noticing and posting that book page for the Gaskin piece. I love that its more simple than their usual style which I love.
